During the first week of May the Landscaping Committee organized a Plant & Seed Swap which took place on a sunny day in the backyard of the Grant Street site. This was our committee’s first public event and we hope to make it an annual gathering.
Some co-op members brought seeds from their own stock to share with each other. Others brought seedlings. The committee acquired seeds, seedlings, books and refreshments as well as high quality organic fertilizer.
Although there were practical reasons for gathering together (the exchange of seeds) the occasion was a nice opportunity to visit with our neighbours and get to know some of those in the co-op whom we hardly know. We were lucky enough to have a break from the May showers as we milled around the Grant Street garden.
